01. How do we sign up with Prep My Lakehouse?

Because lake homes require a different level of care than primary residences—and because maintaining a reliable, high-quality team matters to us—we require bi-weekly service for all new clients. This cadence ensures that someone from our trusted team is in your home every other week, proactively keeping eyes and ears on your property.

When a home has not been recently used, our bi-weekly visit functions as a comprehensive House Check. During these visits, we refresh commodes, dust throughout the home, inspect appliances, review pantries and refrigerators for expired items, and complete a full exterior perimeter check to ensure everything is exactly as it should be. These regular check-ins allow us to catch and resolve small issues before they become larger ones—so when you arrive at the lake, your honey-do list is already done.

We are happy to support additional “drop-in” or supplemental cleans beyond your bi-weekly schedule, based on availability. These requests are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Prime weeks and holidays fill quickly, so advance notice—especially around key holiday weekends—is strongly recommended.

For clients who use their lake homes more heavily during certain times of the year, we offer flexible seasonal scheduling. Many clients choose bi-weekly service during lower-use months and transition to weekly service during peak season, typically from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

If you are seeking one-off or occasional ad-hoc cleans, we are still accepting those as scheduling allows; however, ad-hoc services are subject to a surcharge.

Our goal is simple: to ensure your home is always cared for, even when you’re not there—so your time at the lake is spent relaxing, not managing.

We thoughtfully select high-quality, luxury cleaning products from trusted brands, including eco-friendly options such as Mrs. Meyer’s and Method. These products allow us to clean effectively while being mindful of your home, furnishings, and the environment.

Our team also uses appropriate sanitizing products for bathrooms and kitchen areas, carefully matched to the surface and conditions in each home to ensure proper care and hygiene.

Every service is customized based on your preferences, your home’s specific needs, and any allergies or sensitivities you may have. The only product we ask clients to provide is laundry detergent, allowing us to respect individual scent preferences and allergy considerations.

Our goal is always the same: a beautifully cared-for home that feels fresh, safe, and ready for you to enjoy.

We carry an extensive insurance policy that covers all the services we provide. Additionally, Prep My Lakehouse housekeeping team members are all-American, background checked, drug tested, W-2 employees of the company.

Many of Prep My Lakehouse’s clients have never met our team in person—and that is entirely by design. We understand that your lakehouse is not your primary residence, and when you are there, your priority is to relax and enjoy the lake, not coordinate around service providers.

We are happy to meet with you on site or conduct a walkthrough at your convenience. For an initial clean, some clients prefer to be present to introduce the home, highlight areas requiring special attention, or note items to avoid, and we are always glad to accommodate that preference.

Most of our clients ultimately choose to entrust our fully insured team with access to their home by providing a key—securely stored in our office lockbox—or a designated entry code. This allows us to care for your home seamlessly while you enjoy truly effortless lake living.

No. Our team arrives fully equipped with professional-grade supplies and equipment to complete your service to our standards.

If you have specific products you prefer us to use, we are happy to accommodate and simply ask that you provide those items. We also understand that some clients prefer we use their own supplies or equipment, and we are glad to do so—just let us know your preference.

The only item we request clients provide is laundry detergent, as this allows us to respect individual allergies, scent sensitivities, and personal preferences.

Every home is different, and every client uses their lake house differently. Our standard housekeeping rates are based on the square footage of the home, providing a clear and consistent starting point.

Laundry and bed services are priced à la carte. Lake life isn’t one-size-fits-all—you may have a quiet weekend with just one or two beds used, or a full house for the Fourth of July with every sheet, towel, and linen in rotation. This approach gives our clients the flexibility to use us as much or as little as needed, without paying for services they don’t require.

For unique situations, deep cleans, or non-standard housekeeping requests, we also offer hourly service.

During our initial conversation, we take time to understand how you use your home, your priorities, and your expectations. From there, we establish bespoke housekeeping rates tailored precisely to how you want your home cared for—so it’s always ready for effortless lake living.

Our standard clean is designed to return your home to a polished, welcoming, HGTV–photo-shoot-ready condition—so it’s ready for you the moment you arrive.

A standard clean includes:
· Full-home dusting
· Full-home vacuuming
· Mopping of all hard-surface floors
· Complete bathroom cleaning and sanitizing
· Kitchen cleaning, including countertops, sink, microwave, refrigerator exterior, and stovetop

o Note: Oven deep cleaning is available as an add-on charge, as it requires specialized products and additional time
· Trash removal and replacement of trash liners
· A full-home “reset,” restoring spaces to their intended layout and presentation
· Front entry and back patio swept, de-cobwebbed, and wiped down

Because we carefully schedule routes and prepare detailed service dockets in advance, we require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice for any cancellation or rescheduling request. For cancellations received with less than 24 hours notice a $50 fee will be charged.

Our team plans each day thoughtfully — including travel time to and from your lakehouse — to ensure we arrive fully prepared to deliver the level of service you expect. Providing advance notice allows us to adjust schedules accordingly and continue serving all clients efficiently.
